High School Freshmen and Sophomores

Sign up for a challenging course load each year you are in school

Participate in extra-curricular activities that are of interest to you (athletics, arts, community service, work)

Expand your mind by attending community lectures or enrichment courses in career fields that appeal to you

Start thinking about the things that will be important to you in college ( location, distance from home, academic programs, or extra-curricular activities, for example)

Create a list of the colleges that interest you and research them- let your list grow before you narrow it down

 

High School Juniors and Seniors

Talk to your high school counselors and teachers about colleges they might recommend for you

Visit college campuses to get a better “feel” for the “fit”. Schedule a visit to our campus. (Your McDaniel application fee will be waived if you attend an official admissions visit prior to the application deadline.)

Get to know your admission counselor when we are in your area. Ask about our scholar interview process if you’d like to have one.

Take the SAT/ ACT no more than twice- and don’t stress about it too much.

Complete a Financial Aid Early Estimate- we like the FAFSA4caster.
