Yesterday we introduced the McDaniel Maryland Scholars Program, a new scholarship opportunity for Maryland students who will enter McDaniel as freshmen in Fall 2009. This program is really exciting for us- it’s a great way to help families see that McDaniel can be affordable. (And there are plenty of other scholarship options for students not from Maryland, so no worries on that front.)

The McDaniel Maryland Scholars Program offers four-year academic scholarships ranging from $50,000 to $80,000. Eligibility begins with an 1150 SAT (CR+M) or a 25 ACT, a minimum cumulative un-weighted GPA of 3.3 (will be calculated on 9th-11th grade work for most students) and a college prep curriculum including a strong senior course load. High on the hill in Westminster, Maryland, where Main Street and Uniontown Road collide, sits Carroll Hall, home to the McDaniel College Office of Admissions. As you become familiar with Westminster, you'll find it's the landmark people use instinctively to chart their course –  from downtown Westminster, you look west, and there's Carroll Hall at the top of the hill. It's a beautiful Victorian house, circa 1871, and on the National Register of Historic Places, but that's not why this blog is named for it.
